Our service recognises that our most valuable source are our employees, our future development of our services rely upon the skills of the workforce being fully competent to carried out their job. We are committed therefore to the development and training of each member of staff thereby equipping our staff with the necessary skills to reach their full potential.

In practice we will support our staff by ensuring that their rights and wellbeing are protected and thereby encouraging their motivation by being caring open and honest. Endeavouring to create an open culture in the service where staff feel confident and supported to raise any concerns they have without any fear of recrimination.

Providing a safe working environment where risk of violence, harassment and bullying are assessed and minimised. Having clear procedures in place that are implemented when staff are subjected to violence, harassment or bullying by other staff or people who use services. Ensuring the risks to staff from the premises, equipment, or work that they do are assessed, and the preventative and protective measures required as a result are implemented and followed. This includes staff understanding and following any health surveillance measures where they apply.

Supporting staff to follow their professional codes of conduct, and not requiring staff to do anything that would mean they would fail to follow that code.
Ensuring that staff are aware that they will receive support if they develop a health problem related to their work. Putting suitable plans in place for ongoing support where staff need reasonable adjustments in order to be able to carry out their role.

Supporting staff to obtain expert advice in relation to qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience, who can contact the manager who will determine the best source for this information. Ensuring that staff can raise items where they require support during supervision sessions, and the type and level of support required is agreed with the supervisor.

We recognise the valuable contribution our staff make to the development of the service and the staff team are encouraged to give their suggestions for improvement or discuss their ideas or new innovations with the manager. We also have a suggestion box located in the staff room. We will support staff through supervision and appraisal by providing them with feedback on their performance in a constructive, progressive and motivating way.
